Could not switch to discrete graphic card AMD Radeon HD 6470M (1GB) from Intel HD 3000 in Windows 10. 8 or Windows 7 so as to get drivers from HP.

If you are using a brand computer, go to your PC manufacturer’s website to download the driver. If not, you can go to the motherboard manufacturer’s website to download the driver. Conexant audio driver fix for hp laptops.

Unfortunately, no Windows 10 drivers are available for your laptop in HP website as you have already noticed. What's worse, you have no gfx drivers for even Windows 8 in HP website. So you are stuck with Windows Update only. Now, I can only suggest that you uninstall all graphics drivers ( both AMD and Intel ) from Device Manager in the first place and remove graphics adapters from there. Let Windows 10 re-detect your gfx adapters by restarting your laptop because your AMD gfx adapter is mis-identified as you have observed.

After you have restarted your laptop, visit Windows Update again and hope that your gfx drivers are installed properly. Even if that happens, you may not have switchable gfx cards for some time until AMD and Intel or MS do something.

Regardless of the installation source (Windows Update, AMD authentic drivers, Leshcat modified drivers) my card AMD Radeon 6470M is wrongly detected as AMD Radeon 7400M as below

How do I force install (or install with compatibility settings) this driver (Radeon HD 6470M) in place of AMD Radeon HD 7400M in Windows 10 (64 bit) ?

I have clearly mentioned my laptop make and model along with the current operating system and its architecture in the question I asked. Additionally, I also provided clear details about my graphic card make and model.

Tried that already, several times. No use. Again it gets detected as AMD Radeon HD 7400M instead of 6470M.

My laptop HP Pavilion G6-1068SE has Intel HD 3000 On Board Graphics along with 1GB discrete Radeon HD 6470M graphics.
When I did a fresh install of Windows 10 x64, Windows Update automatically installed latest Catalyst Control Center along with the necessary display drivers for Intel HD 3000 (On-board Graphics).

I have the same problem as you and what's annoying about all of this is that this laptop is my only laptop. As of now, all I can say that there are no solutions yet. I tried installing the Leshcat AMD drivers and not a single one worked.

We'll just have to wait for HP to release a driver for now. Until then, I'll be highly considering downgrading to Windows 8.1.

I just already did. In windows 7 right now and my GPU works better than ever.

And the best thing is I just got freedom from Metro apps which I never use and the application search (No Win+S or Win+W, all consolidated in one Win key in win 7 :p ) is a much faster due to that.

Can't wait until MS or AMD give a solution for this! Lost all hope. And now I'm happily on Win 7 except for one fact, that I have to see the frustrating Upgrade to Windows 10 window often.

Happy to have Windows Experience Index :) Gaming graphics is 6.3 and that's enough for me to play Skyrim :P Hp deskjet 6122 color inkjet printer driver windows 7.
